Emily Hoyle: Sharing the Ohio State Spirit
For Ohio Union Activities Board (OUAB) Director of Spirit and Traditions Emily Hoyle, sharing her Buckeye pride is a way of giving back to the community. All students are invited to share their excitement and give back during Buckeye Nation Week, November 17–24, 2019.
Being part of OUAB has had a huge impact on Emily’s life at Ohio State, and she knew she wanted to create events that would have a lasting impression on students. Her freshman year, she applied to join the Major Campus Events Committee and has continued to look for new ways to launch events on campus.
Her favorite idea to date? Bringing back Buckeye Nation Week.
“We are excited to reinvent this week and show what it means to be a
Buckeye and share Ohio State pride,” Hoyle said.
Buckeye Nation Week is a tradition that dates back for years ago, when the week emphasized The Game and beating TTUN. Emily had the vision to rebrand the week to emphasize Ohio State’s individuality and traditions, and with the help of OUAB made it a reality.
Now, the week focuses on what it means to be a part of Buckeye Nation. From the Blood Battle against TTUN, to attending one of the incredible planned events and giving back through the t-shirt exchange program with STAR House Columbus, students have many different ways to show their Buckeye pride.
