Fighting Food Insecurity with #KindColumbus
Reliving our October 25–26 community service project in celebration of kindness…
On October 25, in celebration of kindness, the Office of Student Life partnered with The Columbus Foundation’s Kind Columbus, The Ohio State University Alumni Association and The Ohio State University Department of Athletics to host a Pack Shack “Feed the Funnel” party.
With the help of over 600 Buckeyes, we packed more than 200,000 nutritious meals and loaded them onto the Ohio State football truck.
The following morning, a team of Student Life and Columbus Foundation representatives followed the football truck to Athens, Ohio, where we were joined by the Ohio University Division of Student Affairs to unload the meals packed the previous night and distribute them to food pantries throughout Athens County. Athens County is the most food-insecure county in the state, so we knew these meals would go a long way to help Ohioans across the region!
We know that kindness is happening all around us, all year long, but it’s always an honor to participate in special initiatives like this one that bring together communities with the common goal of making our city, state and world a better place. Thanks to our partners for supporting us, and thanks to #KindColumbus for building an inclusive community that we’re proud to call our own!
