The Buckeye Food Alliance (BFA) now has a second food pantry location for students living in the North Campus area. Overseen by the Office of Student Life’s Student Wellness Center, the Buckeye Food Alliance is a student organization that provides resources for students experiencing food insecurity. The organization aims to support all students by encouraging them to live happier and healthier lives.

“Our primary role, and why we’re so important here on campus, is to make sure students have access to healthy, nutritious food options that are affordable and fit into their budget,” said Nick Fowler, the Buckeye Food Alliance coordinator.

The second location is now open at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church on the corner of High Street and Woodruff Avenue. The original food pantry is in Lincoln Tower and has served students since 2016.

The Buckeye Food Alliance works with local organizations to fill their food pantries, including Mid-Ohio Food Bank, UNITY Fridge, as well as receives donations from University Dining Services and the Target on High Street.

Fowler said the pantry is stocked with non-perishable food items as well as fresh and frozen produce and meats. It also provides students with toiletries such as soap, toothbrushes, shampoo and conditioner.

“Not only will this second location increase accessibility to our pantry, but it will also bring awareness of our resource to many more students as they pass by the space,” said Josh Debo, Buckeye Food Alliance president. “This second space will also be useful for hosting education sessions and volunteering events more often.”

Debo said that the new location will help Buckeye Food Alliance impact a larger number of students.

“We hope that our new location allows us to reach more students than ever before by providing an extra location and hours for them to visit us,” he said. “This way, fewer students feel the impacts that improper nutrition can have on one’s education.”

Both the Lincoln Tower and St. Stephen’s food pantry locations are accessible to undergraduate, graduate and professional students with a valid BuckID. The new location will be open from:

  • 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays
  • 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays
