Student Life’s 2017–18 Highlights
So much happened during the past year, it’s hard to pick just a few of our favorite highlights! But we put some thought into it and selected five moments that stand out to us. Enjoy!
Touring Ohio with Buckeye Bus
This year’s State Tour took us all over our home state, where students and staff had the opportunity to meet with alumni, explore Ohio’s landmarks and engage with communities in Southeast, Southwest and Northern Ohio.
Celebrating World Kindness Day
On November 13, 2017, we were joined by over 600 Buckeyes to pack and send off 210,000 meals for families in need across Columbus and in Puerto Rico. We kept the kindness going all week long with help from friends in and outside of the university community. #KindColumbus was a huge success!
Breaking Records with BuckeyeThon
As Ohio State’s largest student-run philanthropy, BuckeyeThon never fails to impress with their dedication to ending pediatric cancer. This year, BuckeyeThon raised over $1.6 million! As always, Ohio State came out in full force, #ForTheKids!
Marking the 40th Annual African American Heritage Festival
The African American Heritage Festival has been an Ohio State tradition for decades. It’s a celebration of African American culture and heritage, and an opportunity to learn, reflect and grow as a community. In spring of 2018, the festival celebrated its 40th year with a week of programs and events surrounding the theme of Urithi, the Swahili word for Legacy.
Congratulating a Record Number of Ohio State Grads
At Commencement each semester, we watch our extraordinary Buckeyes collect their diplomas and embark on new adventures. This year, we saw a record number of Ohio State students become alumni. Between summer, autumn and spring semester, over 17,000 degrees were granted!
Thank you for being a part of the Student Life journey, Buckeyes. We’ve had an extraordinary year, all because of you!
